Church

Doing church and being the Church, the body of Christ.

NPC Live Blog: Poolside conversations

One of the best aspects of National Pastors Convention is the conversations that take place outside of the sessions.

Today dozens of conference attendees have been hanging out around the pools at the Town and Country resort in the beautiful San Diego sunshine.  Conversations about church ministry can be heard, along with just regular conversations with a lot of laughs.  Many conference attendees return to NPC year after year and reconnect with friends they’ve met in previous years.

Here’s to a great week of conversations at NPC in the California sunshine!

NPC Live Blog: Ready to go Live!

National Pastors Convention is ready to go live!

Thanks to dozens of volunteers who set up for the conference yesterday and today, we are eagerly anticipating the arrival of conference attendees today.  Some pastors arrived last night after preaching at their churches on Sunday.  People in ministry attending NPC are all looking forward to a week of nourishment for their souls, engaging their minds, and connecting with others in meaningful conversations.

The weather in San Diego is gorgeous at 60 degrees currently, with forecasts for 70 degrees by mid-week!

At 6:00pm tonight our first Critical Concerns courses begin.  Look for live blog postings later tonight with a report on these courses.  We expect to post up MP3 clips from sessions this week, along with photos occasionally.

Stay tuned to www.Zondervan.com/Blog all well for the National Pastors Convention live blog!

Dan Kimball – They Like Jesus But Not The Church

There are uncomfortable questions that are being raised today about church and Christianity. There is a high interest in spirituality but not in organized religion. They Like Jesus But Not The Church is a six session DVD curriculum from Zondervan which looks at the understandable questions and perceptions that people outside of the church have.

Questions such as "Is the church judgmental, negative and political?" "Does the church arrogantly think they are right and all other religions wrong?" ‘Is the church homophobic?". Dan Kimball explores these questions and perceptions and gives biblically-based ways to respond to these perceptions. For more information, go to http://www.theylikejesus.com/
